Isa Barbier

Plastic artist born in 1945 in Cannes, Isa Barbier graduated from the Arts Décoratifs de Nice and works between France and Italy. The artist immerses herself in places and their singularity to elaborate her future installations, which she realizes most of the time in situ. The castle of Charleval has been a tremendous source of inspiration for her. Sensitive to the idea of time passing, she thought of her project in the manner of an “attic” where one would store works from different eras.

As if it were obvious, sculptures of feathers, petals and mirrors, drawings, paintings, and minimal creations made of piano strings have found their place in the brownish-colored artist’s room she has chosen. Here they are, hanging on the walls, suspended or, like secret treasures, hidden behind the small door of a closet. The artist is amused by this. And she uses them to propose something light, airy, subtle, which invites to elevation.

Château Charleval accueille l’exposition « Seasons of heaven », qui réunit les deux artistes, Aurélia Rocher et Joanna Cutri. Céramiques et toiles contemporaines se répondent et questionnent notre lien à la Mémoire et la Nature.
