Originally from the Vosges, Arnaud Labarge is a self-taught artist who walks by emotion. It is in sculpture that this thirsty for freedom has found a space of expression where nature is an infinite source of inspiration. As a child, when he was looking after the sheep with his brothers, this son of farmers spent his time collecting stones and bits of scrap metal that he liked to tinker with. Today, the artist, who lives near Montpellier, works with wood and steel, and creates from recycled materials with the desire to transmit an energy through his works.
At Château Charleval, the sculptor discovers a place “linked to living works” where nature is left in its own juice. Nothing flashy. In the park, his Totems, and his long boat from Palavas, from which sounds escape with the wind, feel good. And so does he. “It changed my vision of work”, confides the artist who now allows himself to create larger pieces. To dare, with the rare feeling that it is “the right time and the right place”.
